Stingray Skin Artisan Ceramic Djembe - Extremely Rare!
This gorgeous ceramic djembe has a spotted stingray skin head imported from Pakistan. This instrument is a one-of-a-kind work of art - the stingray skin head is extremely responsive, weather resistant, strong, and beautiful. Stingray skin drums are sought-after around the world, and this one is brought to you at an extremely affordable price.
Made on the potter's wheel in one large piece (15lbs of clay was used), the drum has very loud, crystal clear highs and a clear, tonal bottom. A great drum - really loud, huge sound, beautiful, and relatively light-weight (8lbs) - this drum is as loud as wooden drums three times its size. The head is heat-tunable (setting the drum in the sun or near any heat source will dry out the head and cause it to constrict. To tune the drum in less than 1 minute, you can use a heating-pad or hairdrier. To lower the pitch of the drum, simply place a damp cloth in the center of the head for a few seconds.
